According to professional RDS.ca hockey reporter, Renaud P Lavoie, Marc-Édouard Vlasic won't even face a hearing with the NHL's Disciplinary personnel for his boarding on Danny Briere in the final minutes of last night's 1 - 0 loss versus the San Jose Sharks --

At the time it happened, Vlasic skated away without a penalty called on him despite almost ending Danny's ability to walk and/or breath on his own. It was a miracle Briere never broke his neck --

“I never expected to be bulldozed there. It was scary," Briere told the press. "I was fortunate that it wasn’t worse that it was. I was just lost there. I kinda flipped around. I was dizzy there for a couple of seconds. I had not clue what happened.”

It was an incredibly scary moment. The play continued to the opposite end of the rink while viewers at home had no idea whether their alternate captain lie conscious on the ice, or not.

Personally, I am not particularly Briere's biggest fan. If you've been reading my work long enough, then you know this to be true. However, with that said, there isn't an ounce of me that wasn't raging after that hit on #48 last night.

And then no penalty?!

AND NOW NO DISCIPLINARY HEARING?!?!?

I've been sticking up for NHL Head Disciplinarian, Brendan Shanahan, all season long. And I like to believe I am able to convince my readers that I can separate my diehard Flyers fanhood from my unbiased love of the sport and league itself. Which is exactly where the following message is coming from;

I'm done. I am absolutely done giving Shanahan the benefit of the doubt and backing him up as he continues down this mind-boggling path of inconsistent decisions to suspend/fine the players, or not to. Vlasic's infraction in last night's match is exactly what this League is desperately trying to eliminate in hockey today.

The boarding on Briere was a textbook boarding call. It comes no surprise to me that the officials on the ice did not pick up on the penalty when it occurred, despite the play happening right before their eyes. The officiating in this League is a nightmare. It's so disgustingly bad that I'm willing to agree it's the worst in all major sports.

But for the play to be swept under the NHL Office's rug?

Inexcusable.

I cannot wait to hear Shanny's impermissible bullshit reason why he decided against so much as scheduling a hearing with MA Vlasic --

Brendan did not reply to my Tweet. I'm sure he's in the middle of extensively studying video taken of Zac Rinaldo wiping his ass back-to-front instead of the traditional front-to-back.

Definitely suspendable. See you in October, Zac.
