Watching The NFL Draft Tonight? LOLOL JK, Two ECQF Game 7's
Don't take the title of this article too seriously, you crab asses. I'm very well aware you can watch the NFL Draft and the two ECQF Game 7's tonight simultaneously.
But anyways...
HOW 'BOUT THEM BRUINS??? Yessir, the seventh seeded Washington Capitals eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins last night in Beantown for that series' Game 7.
Dramatic is an understatement.
The tilt had gone to one extra frame after being tied 1 - 1 at the end of the 3rd period. Mike Knuble assisted on a Joel Ward game-winning, dirty goal that crossed The Almighty Timmy Thomas and the entire world (minus Bostonians) celebrated as if it was their Club who had thumped the Big Bad Bears.
Onward we go!
As I'm sure most of you knew already, the advancing teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs are re-seeded prior to the SemiFinals getting underway. The top seed hosts the lowest, while the two middle Clubs battle each other for the rights to penetrate the Conference Finals.
And because the EC's seventh ranked team remains, it means it'd be impossible for the fifth seeded Philadelphia Flyers to face the top ranked New York Rangers in our second stanza of Playoff glory.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Tonight the NHL hosts the final two Eastern Conference QuarterFinal Game 7's:

Alright, time to update the ol' possible SemiFinals match-up chart --

(Image provided by fan & reader, Jeromy Spencer)
Take a moment for yourself and just enjoy looking at that chart without the Bruins in sight. It's not that I was afraid of facing Boston in the post-season (because honest to God, I wasn't....at all), but I take such tremendous pleasure in witnessing Bruins fans go from "WE GOT THIS! BACK TO BACK, BABY!!!"....
to.....

Ahhhhhh......good stuff, good stuff.
So now the Flyers have a 75% chance of getting home-ice advantage in the Semis. I guess that's good, considering how well our boys played in Game 6 of our series with Pittsburgh.
But all regular season long we've been road warriors, and had a better record taking the scoreboard in a foreign barn than bursting the bulbs at our own Wells Fargo Center.
Then again, it's home ice. We'll take it.
Now it all depends on the two more underdogs tonight. Some of you may want to face the Rangers in the ECF for admirable reason; To be the best, you got to beat the best. That's an incredible attitude. I tip my hat to each of you.
Bullshit, GO SENS!
And how about those Panthers? First time in their franchise's history that they have ever hosted a Game 7 in their building. I don't know whether to congratulate them or shake my head at how pathetic that is.
Nevertheless, I still say the Devils have the upper-hand on this tilt because of one, Marty Brodeur.
Granted, Marty hasn't looked insanely great this series, but his Playoff & Cup experience alone gives him an edge. He knows how to win BIG pressure games. And I just cannot imagine Florida's attendance getting into his head...
......or anyone's, frankly

*cricket***cricket***cricket*
But, hey, we all gave the Capitals the same doubt. Hell, we never thought Ottawa would take the Rangers this far. And for the love of Joe Pesci, EVERYONE believed the Penguins would have no problems ousting our Orange Soldiers!
In a nutshell, these QuarterFinals have been ludicrous. A twilight zone. They've managed to completely flip expectations on their heads.
What's to happen tonight? Who knows....stay tuned.
