The 2013-14 Philadelphia Flyers.... the same team averaging less than two-goals per 60-minutes of play.... have loaned their leading goal-scorer, Tye McGinn (3), back down to our AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.

This pretty much means Scott Hartnell is close to returning to active duty, but it also means that on some planet.... Michael Raffl has deserved to stay up with the Big Club over an energetic, NHL-ready Tye McGinn.

My question is, what else does this poor kid have to do to prove to management that he deserves a starting job on our roster? I understand that Hartnell carries a heavy swinging cap hit and that Hartnell is a veteran, blah blah blah fucking blah. But ya know what? Same can be said for Andrej Meszaros who warms a seat in the press box every goddamn night.

My sheer confusion is apparently felt by many others...

And finally....

Does Tye need more developing? At an AHL level, I say no. But apparently coaching believes Raffl is a better piece to the Giroux, Lecavalier combo than McGinn could be. I cannot imagine Hartnell is going to be plugged right back on the top line -- actually, I pray he doesn't. And I'd much rather not see Hartnell steal a left-wing spot higher up the depth chart, leaving McGinn to skate from a 3rd or 4th line role.

Still, this move stings. It really, really sucks. I'm all for the 'Youth Movement' and I've bought into it 100%. McGinn should be every part of that, and it should start today.... not just some time in the future.
