In case you missed it, Monday night's nationally televised New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers game began in THIS season's best glimpse backward to Old Time Hockey --

Yes, this is a Philadelphia Flyers blog, but if a Broad Street Bullies fan cannot appreciate the icy mayhem that happened not even 24hrs ago, then I respectfully ask you to 'X' out of my website, never return, and enjoy your Kumbaya campfires with the girl scouts.

Right off the puck drop, our Blue Shirt and Red Horned rivals exchanged fisticuffs.

Apparently what had happened was Devils coach Peter DeBoer did some last minute changes to his starting combinations. He threw thugs out there like Cam Janssen, Eric Boulton, Bryce Salvador and Ryan Carter all at once. This was obviously to send a message to Blue Shirts bench boss John Tortorella.

Torts responded in a way that said, "F*ck you! You wanna start this way? Let's play your game," and appointed Rangers tough guys like Mike Rupp, Stu Bickel and Brandon Prust to the frozen pond for the...."faceoff".

The Rangers responded very well to this fight, capping off a 4 - 2 victory and solidifying a Playoff spot (the first Eastern Conference team to do so this season).

John Tortorella is always good for an interesting post-game interview. After last night's heavy hitting, grinding and fist-pounding performance, he did not disappoint --

Save your energy, John. You'll need it to curse out the press after your team's abysmal loss coming Tuesday, April 3rd.
