If you're anything like me, then each time you hear something about the NHL making an announcement about the Winter Classic 2012....you immediately become skeptic.
However, news is breaking all over the interwebs and social media networks claiming the league's finally, and formally, announcing the Bridgstone Winter Classic taking place in Philadelphia, January 2nd, 2012, featuring the New York Rangers vs the Flyers at Citizens Bank Park.
The date rumored for this announcement is Monday, September 26th at 1:30pm (per Sarah Baicker). The very same day the Rangers roll into the City of Brotherly Love for a preseason game.
This is all very exciting, and fantastic.
Ya know what else is fantastic?
That. That teaser video is fantastic.
If that doesn't get your blood pumping and begging for ice cold, hard hitting, goal horn blaring, outdoor action then I advise you to remove whatever tree branch you have lodged up your sandy ass.
Even the event's logo has been leaked to the public after someone lucky enough caught a still-photo of it slapped on CBP's jumbotron prior to tonight's Phillies game (per 700Level.com).
Everyone and their mothers know about that Tony The Tiger sweater that circled the grapevine awhile back. Thank Christ Reebok shot that back-fence talk down.
But there have been other Winter Classic jersey ideas generated from all over the hockey blogging planet. Take an article from The Flyers Hive, for instance. They've got one chef-d'oeuvre called The Canadien Concept that's actually turned out to be my favorite jersey idea to date.
Before you go off calling me a traitor to Flyers nation, just know that I love the feng shui of the sweater's concept. It's simple, yet paramount. Something the Flyers crest and colors have always been since the beginning of time.
My only augmentation would be to throw laces on the collar. I've always wanted the Orange and Black to implement the laces on their sweaters. Always.
