Bogle Sounds the Bugle On Our West Coast Battle as The Boys Return Home >

I'll never understand this team, Ladies and Gentlemen.

They get stellar goaltending and they forget to score, they score tons of goals and Ilya can't stop a beach ball. Now if we can only get Bill Nye the Science Guy to fuse the two together, then we'd have something.

Why do you think that is?

Is it that the forwards are backchecking more when we get the better goaltending, therefore fewer odd man rushes for the Flyers, which means less chances? In turn does it mean the Flyers forwards are backchecking less and give up more odd man rushes to the opposition but also score more? Great, now my eyes have gone cross eyed.

Anyway, the Flyers have 20-games left on their schedule, all on East Coast time (Thank Jebus) and 12 of them on home ice. 13 of the matches are against Clubs who are currently in the Playoff picture. This is the most important stretch of the season... Obviously.

The Flyers need to play much better in front of their home crowd if they'd like to make a run in the post-season. Now's the time to prove it; Ahead we have a game against the Wings, where they retire the #2 for Flyers great Mark Howe, and 6-games including our rivaled Penguins, Devils and Rangers. This stretch will either make or break the team..

I like the additions of Pavel Kubina and Nicklas Grossman.

Kubina has averaged over 18-minutes per game since he joined the Orange and Black, and has a blistering shot. Grossman is also averaging 18-minutes of ice time with a +3 rating. Both players have stayed out of the box and played special teams. Exactly what this group (specifically Kimmo Timonen) needs in the long run.

Next game is tomorrow night against the Islanders, who have a 2-game winning streak against our Flyers. Last time Evgeni Nabokov stood on his head with a shutout.

Why do people say "he stood on his head" when playing a very good game? You would think the blood rushed to the brain would prevent that from happening.

Your thoughts, Bill?
