Goalie Michael Leighton has been re-signed in Philadelphia to a 1yr/$900K contract.
We may talk a lot of crap about Leights, but this signing sits just fine with me. Leighton could backup Bryzgalov and take 12 - 15 starts off his back.
Just to give you a window into the past; the reason for my disliking of Michael Leighton was his decision to not disclose his lower-back injury to the Flyers organization at the time of his former re-signing two offseasons ago.
At this point in time, there's bigger things to worry about. Marty Biron extended his stay in Manhattan for two more years with the Blueshirts, so he's off the list. UFA goalies are becoming less and less available. So, I dig this signing. Cheap and absolutely no risk.
Leights, do your job, do it well, and we're cool.
