So again, this is what's lead me to think that the Flyers should test free agency for a center who gets the majority of his starts in the defensive zone, wins 55% of his faceoffs (or more), and serves as an economical, provisional role player from the 4th line.

As I dug deeper and deeper for more information regarding reasons why this League is heading towards another work stoppage, I realized my journey was not populated as heavily as I once thought it would be.

So once again, this is a matter of the almighty dollar. Would I love to see Shane Doan in the Orange & Black? Without question. His tenacious carnality is what feeds Flyers fans. But from a practical standpoint, that asking price pushes me completely out of contention.

With this sort of pay raise, there's no question the Flyers have the intention on sticking Voracek with Giroux in that vanguard combination. And to tell ya the truth, the thought of a Hartnell/Giroux/Voracek line gives me goosebumps.

All I'm asking is for Flyers fans to step away from the ledge. Don't jump! We're not in any sort of defensive trouble. We missed out on the League's top blue liner, but I firmly believe our panicking has led some of us to undervaluing what we already have.

Just as Holmgren screwed the Penguins and Rangers out of a possible deal for Weber, Blueshirts GM Glen Sather just dropped a rattle snake in our negotiations with Nashville.
