If you want to develop a final opinion by strictly comparing JVR and Schenn's productivity side-by-side, then you're going to find arguments for Toronto winning the trade, hands down. But you must consider JVR's proneness to injury, and the imminent moves peripherally laid out by Holmgren. This will all come together before the start of training camp.

We'll have to see how these prospects pan out before I can cast a final grade and/or judgement on the whole Draft. However, what I enjoyed the most was listening to the butthurt Pittsburgh attendance inexorably boo Paul Holmgren and the rest of our management team as they went to the podium to select Scott Laughton.

Great trade. However, I don't expect Holmgren to hang on to those three picks for long. They'll more than likely become the sugar coating to some bigger, grander trade deal he's got cooking up in that salt & pepper skull of his.

If the song Dragula is not the track to a scene of Dave "the Hammer" Schultz beating the living piss outta Maple Leaf, Dave Dunn, I'm gonna be very unhappy.

The Orange and Black Pack would like to give one final salute to a man that made us believe in the game we love so much. A man that epitomized the slogan “Play for the crest on the front, not the name on the back”.

This could open doors of opportunity to some of our existing defensive prospects skating in the lower league, most notably....Blake Kessel and/or Oliver Lauridsen.

The League has never been more profitable. There's never been more fans than there are right now, even if millions of them hang to the fences between diehards and fairweathers. If faced with another lockout, the NHL will give itself an even larger, darker blackeye than it received through its 2004-05 hiatus.

Flyers fans know we're missing a right-handed blue liner. But I thought it was a breath of fresh air to see a top tier NHL'er like Zach Parise point out that a great deal of New Jersey's success was exploiting our weak zone defense.
